The first attempt at finding a shipper to get the bike from HK to Vladivostok I thought would have been easy and I thought I had a company lined up. STS Logistics claim to be a specialist in shipping to/from Japan and Russia with an office in Vladivostok.

I tried to get them to give me a quote to Russia and they came up with a horrendous figure of circa HKD20,000 (USD,2500) to Vladivostok by SEA. Air was quoted at HKD28,000. So after a bit of thought and a bit of input from a couple of people I decided why not go through Japan as well. And then I met a friend who had a friend living in Japan and it sort of became obvious Japan is a place worth a trip all on its own so its back to direct shipping from HK to Vladivostok. Butt of course that has all changed now I'm not going through Japan due to ferry timetable issues (well actually, there isn't a ferry for May!).

Update 12-03-08: STS are still crap and want to try removing my skin....but I have found some excellent help from Grandways to get the bike to Busan, and Wendy Choi who is being hugely helpful in sorting out and explaining the procedures with the paperwork and Korean Customs etc. Details to follow....
